Digitising the Aircraft Technical Log

For a while Dave Cooper (British Airways Cityflyer), Rob Woods (Air Arabia) and I have considered putting together some of the lessons we have learned about electronic techlogs over the years. There remains a lot of apprehension about making that change despite the benefits and there is often uncertainty about how to approach introducing the change. With that in mind, we thought that combining the airline experience both Rob and Dave have in implementing techlog solutions with my experience of developing those solutions might provide the community with some useful information.

And the result is the PDF you can download from our Resources section on the website. I stress that the document is not a sales pitch – it does not talk about NVable’s solution (although I am more than happy to help you with that!). It is meant as an unbiased view of what we believe are the most important factors to be considered in moving from a paper techlog to an electronic one. These, of course, are our views – you may agree or disagree, but the intention is to share knowledge.

Introducing CoNVerge

Along with our new website, we are replacing our Appixo brand with a new one: CoNVerge. Not only does it sit better with our company branding but we also think it explains more clearly what the service is about.

A hub where streams of data converge to simplify and improve processes.

We have CoNVerge Aviation and now CoNVerge Nautical. The latter is some exciting work we are doing in conjunction with ID2. We hope you like the change!

CoNVerge moves to Microsoft Azure

After a protracted period of research, preparation and testing we finally migrated our CoNVerge service to Microsoft Azure. What’s more, this was accomplished with no interruption to the live service!

Microsoft Azure has matured greatly over the last 2 years and we took our time evaluating the suitability for the specific needs of our customers. Azure now has an impressive breadth of compliance certifications (see here) and our testing confirmed reliability.

With CoNVerge on Azure, not only are we able to offer more scalability, resilience and responsiveness, it opens up a new set of possibilities for our customers. We look forward to exploring those with you.
